Community Garden

Joan’s Pantry Kitchen Garden had its beginnings in July 2013. Since then, we have grown into an established garden with infrastructure in place and with productive raised vegie beds, fruit trees and herbs.

The Community Kitchen Garden Project

We are now focussing on the next stage of our garden with plans for more paving, bird baths, art work, more seating and a landscaped entrance with flowering and edible plants. We would also like to enhance our profile in the community by working more closely with other community groups.

To signal a new phase in the garden, we have officially adopted the new name of Joan’s Patch: A garden for the Community. We feel that this reflects who we are as part of the Joan’s Pantry tradition but also as a garden open to the community. We are gradually working to change our documentation to incorporate our new name. We have updated the membership form and renamed our Facebook page. The address of our Facebook page is now

We have a loyal and hard-working membership but we always welcome new members. Please think about joining us. Members say that the best part of being a member is the social interaction at our get togethers which happen on the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoon of the month. Members feel that they develop friendships with people they would not otherwise meet.

Our membership fees are very reasonable: $25 a year for an individual and $35 for a family. There is also the opportunity to lease beds for a cost of $50.
